It's Time for Valentines!

We were blessed with visitors Wednesday afternoon. A boy's baseball team from Folsom came in the make Valentine's and play board games with us. They were a well behaved and courteous group - it was a great afternoon. Thank you to our visitors!

Crafting with a Purpose

The craft group here at Creekside Oaks crafts with a clear goal in mind. We call it "Crafts for a Cause" - all of the crafters put their brains together to come up with crafts that would be useful for a particular organization in the community. After we've finished with our craft, we donate the items to the charity organization of choice. Last year, we focused much of our attention on the homeless population and their children in Folsom. This year, we've decided to take a different approach, choosing a new organization each quarter and working on a craft that would be appropriate for the organization of choice.

For the first quarter of 2014, we decided to focus our efforts on the homeless animals in the Sacramento region. We are currently working on tennis ball and rope toys, water bottle crinkle toys, and handmade blankets. We have created a small quarterly newsletter called The Conscious Crafter to distribute within Creekside Oaks to share the hard work and beautiful crafts created by our amazing crafters!

This Magic Moment

Creekside Oaks opened its doors to Mister Illusion for a special magic show yesterday afternoon. While some residents came to the show with skepticism, they all left with smiles on their faces. There were even comments afterwards that residents were wondering how in the world he did that trick...

With a wonderful presence and a great ability to make the residents smile and laugh, Mister Illusion was a wonderful change to the normal entertainment we have here. Thank you, Mister Illusion! 

Visiting the Aerospace Museum

We took a trip out to the California Aerospace Museum near McClellan Air Force Base. With so many residents involved in aviation during their working lives, it turned out to be both an educational and memory-filled trip. We packed a lunch, and off we went!

Never Stop Dancing

We LOVE dancing and singing around here. If there's an opportunity, there will always be residents singing and dancing along to the music. Last week, the Melody Makers came in to celebrate the start of a new year. You'll see in the photos below that we have a few talented dancers around here!

Every day is a new day, with a new opportunity to celebrate the blessings in your life. Take a moment to listen to the music, put a smile on your face, and dance the day away.

Ringing in the New Year

New Year's eve was a fun and entertaining evening for everyone! The party started with entertainment featuring Celtic Grey, followed with refreshments, games, and photos. The balloon drop proved to be more fun than anything else - residents played with the balloons and giggled like children (there were even a few snorts).
